His skin easy to get rash and rough. My baby 7 months and he has very sensitive skin and dry skin. Tried many lotion or cream doesn't work too good?
I would try virgin coconut oil. You can find it in the health food stores or vitamin stores. And it will not break your bank. A little goes a long way and it is all natural so if the baby happens to get some on his hands and eats it it will not hurt him. I use it for my 6 month old. My son has sensitive %26amp; dry skin too. It became red, itchy and finally diagnosed as eczema. Eczema is an allergy that flares up when triggered by certain food (sea food, nuts, eggs, pulses, etc). Note what food causes flare up and avoid. Eczema appears more commonly in childhood and wears off by teenage.
I read somewhere that living in too sterile environments, our body defense mechanism gets highly sensitive to certain substances ('allergens', varies depending on genetics).
My two children had eczema when they were little, which meant very dry rashy skin especially in the joints. The trick with this type of skin is to cut down on soaps and perfumes, keep it really simple none of the pretty baby smell stuff, use a bath oil for sensitive skin eg QV bath oil. Sorbolene is a great moisturiser.
My daughter has mild eczema as well. I put a little baking soda in her bathwater, and only use *hypoallergenic* soap as needed (usually ever 2-3 days or so).
I try not to use any lotions that have dyes or fragrance. For mild dry spots I just use vaseline, and for bigger outbreaks I use Eucerin Calming cream.
Try Auquaphor healing ointment, I was given this for my oldest son when he had the same thing. It worked a miracle. It is available at Wal-Mart and it doesn't have the side effects of some of the topical ointments/creams that the doctors prescribe(and they still recommended Auqaphor or Eucerin)
My daughter has eczema and psoriasis. 3 of her 5 children have eczema. Her 6 yr old daughter has it so bad, the doctor wanted to put her on steroid creams. She started using ARBONNE products. Although this is very expensive, it lasts a whole lot longer than regular shampoos and soaps. The main thing they all say. NEVER use lotions! Lotions actually make it worse. Creams or ointments or oil. And bathe in water not too hot, the cooler the better. But, you should consult your doctor and probably see a pediatric dermatologist. Good Luck.
it could be the start of eczema this sounds like how my sons started. i suggest you take him to the doctor they should give you something. i found this stuff from the body shop its called aloe caring body balm it is brilliant but its 拢10 a pot and doesnt last long so maybe best getting stuff from the doctor :)
Avoid all soaps - water cleans almost everything. Use an unscented moisturizer like lubriderm or eucerin - these work really well whether it's dry skin or eczema, and are recommended by Dr.s. If the dry skin looks really bad or develops redness, you should still check with your Dr. to make sure it's really dry skin or eczema - lots of other skin conditions out there...
Go to the herb shop and get something called kiss my face. The soap is great and will not harm a baby. It has olive oil and some other natural ingredients that are very gentle.
I have sensetive skin and it rocks! Kind of pricy but one bar for a baby will last a while. $4 a bar or so.
I tried using my lansinoh cream (breast feeding nipple lanolin cream) on my daughter when she broke out in rashes and it worked almost instantly to clear her up. Her whole face would get dry and cracked and the lansinoh cleared it up litterally overnight.
Try JOHNSON'S SOFTLOTION EXTRA CARE HEALING LOTION it is the best stuff. My 3 year old son has very dry skin and i use that. Regular lotion doesn't work for him.
